Gold futures ended lower in the domestic market on Tuesday as a sharp appreciation in the rupee against the US dollar more than offset the slight gains seen in the precious metal in the overseas market. A stronger Indian currency against the greenback exerted downward pressure on domestic bullion prices. Gold futures for April 2014 contract, at MCX, closed at Rs. 28,898 per 10 grams, down by 0.90 per cent, after opening at Rs. 29,110, against the previous closing price of Rs 29,159.
